Robert Philby or Filby married Elizabeth Desylva 10 Aug. 1819 in Calcutta. They had four children: Robert, James, Jane and Rebecca (my ancestor). Her husband died 8 Jan. 1826, at the age of 32. Elizabeth received a pension from the Lord Clive Military Fund, but probably it was very little. A few months later, on 27 April 1826 she married Garrett Hogan. Ann Snead (Facebook)

Robert FILBY Sgt Major (b 1794, d 8 Jan 1826, age 32) on 10 Aug 1819 in Calcutta married Elizabeth DeSylva, (b 1804) children:

1. Robert

2. James

3. Jane

4. Rebecca

Elizabeth FILBY nee DeSYLVA (b 1804) widow, at 22yrs on 27 April 1826 in Chunar married  27yr Garrett HOGAN (b 1799 in Ireland). Garrett went to India as a very young man 18 to 20, he was "high jacked" into the army. Children:

1.  James Hogan, who may have also been known as Alexander Hogan. He went on to become a Chemist.

2. Alexander Hogan (b 27 Mar 1831, c 1 Jan 1832 Sultanpore, d 11 Dec 1867 Agra, age 35)
