Henry Shires, age 19, a fifer in the 6th Regiment, an army unit of the English East India Company, married Charlotte GODFREY, age 15, daughter of Charles Godfrey, on October 17, 1848, at Bellary, South India.  They have two children:

1. Charles Henry Shires, born June 6, 1852 at Secunderabad, India
2. Priscilla Shires, born April 5, 1854 at Secunderabad.  

Next Generation

Charles Henry Shires at 25 married Primrose RENAUX, age 17, daughter of Antoine Denis Renaux at Madras, July 28, 1875.  Priscilla Shires becomes headmistress at Kotagiri.  Charles Henry and Primrose Shires have two sons,

1. Samuel William Shires born December 2, 1886
2. Rubin Shires.  

Next Generation

Samuel William Shires, 23, married Elizabeth SNUGG, 16, daughter of Alfred Snugg, at Kolar.  They have a son

1. Charles Antoine Shires, born June 19, 1910 at Kolar Gold Field.

Next Generation

Charles A. Shires, 20, married Florence Amelia BROWNE, 20, at Richmond Town Methodist Church, Bangalore.  They have three sons:

1. Reginald Neville, born October 2, 1933;
2. Harold Trevor Shires who dies at age three on March 8, 1942
3. Harold Samuel Shires born May 3, 1946.
