Edward Howison JOHNSTONE married Frances Ann BAKER in 1901. Family served in India from 1853- 1950's.They mainly lived in Landour, Dehra-Dun and Naini Tal, children:

The family lived in Dehra Dun. However I have not found any trace of them since 1947. I am Angela's brothers great-grandaughter.

E C JOHNSTONE married somewhere before 1850 Emma Christian DANIELL (christened 1/6/1826 in Wimbledon) . Somewhere in India they produced:
Edward William Johnstone (born 1850 in India. He was in London in 1861 and 1881),
James Mitchell Johnstone (born 1851 in India. He was also in London in 1861 and 1881).
E C JOHNSTONE was killed in Jalna* in 25/5/1851. The Times report says that he was in the 3rd Madras Light Cavalry. After his death Emma Christian JOHNSTONE nee DANIELL married John William MUDGE on 21/7/1855 at St James, Westminster. (They were my 2 x great grandparents) They went back to India where my great grandmother, Jessie Frances MUDGE was born in 1856.
Poor Emma Christian MUDGE died on the passage home in 1859. She is buried at Aden.
(* NB: Jalna is in Maharashtra where there
was a British garrison from 1860 up to 1915 or so. There is also a well
maintained graveyard which houses all the tombstones of British people killed
buried there. can confirm if required by spot visit to the graveyard. Sameer
